Privacy Policy

In short: no account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics tools. Your settings stay on your iPhone. Only if you turn on notifications for favourites does our server store a push token and the numbers of your favourites – no names.

Last updated: 2 November 2026. This policy applies to the iPhone app “Toura” and this website. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is a translation; the German version is authoritative.

2. Data on your device

The app stores on your iPhone:

This data stays on your device. We have no access to it. The only exception: if you turn on notifications for favourites, the app sends the numbers of your favourites to our server (section 4). Deleting the app deletes the data on the device. Like the data of any other app, it may be included in your iPhone backup (iCloud or computer).

The app takes language and appearance (light or dark) from your iPhone, or you set them in the app; your choice is stored on the device.

3. Loading tennis data

The app loads rankings, tournaments, results, draws and statistics through our own server. It runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) in data centres around the world. The server fetches the data from the data provider Matchstat via the RapidAPI platform and caches it. The data provider receives no information about you, not even your IP address. Our server only keeps track of which data is currently in demand (e.g. a tournament in progress) to keep it up to date – without any link to you or your device.

Each request from the app to our server technically requires the transfer of:

Cloudflare keeps this information in technical logs for a few days to keep the service running and to detect abuse. We only look at them in case of problems and do not analyse them. These requests do not transfer: your name, your list of favourites, your settings or a device identifier. The sole purpose is to show you tennis data (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)). Cloudflare may also process data in the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss–U.S. and EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Search and archive

If you type a name into the search in the rankings, the app sends it (from three characters on) to our server, which looks it up at the data provider. The data provider receives no information about you. Our server keeps answers to search requests for one day so that identical requests do not trigger a new query; they are not linked to you or your device.

Our server stores rankings and results of past tournaments permanently as an archive, so they do not have to be fetched again each time. This is public tennis data, not information about users.

Privacy policies of the providers: Cloudflare · Expo · Apple

News

Our server fetches the content of the “News” tab (headlines, videos and podcasts, in English) from the public feeds (RSS) of the media named in the app, the YouTube channels of the ATP Tour, Tennis TV and the WTA, and the podcast providers; no information about you is transmitted in doing so. The app only tells the server which section (news, videos or podcasts) it needs. Whether an item concerns one of your favourites is checked by the app on your device. The app loads the preview images directly from the server of the respective provider (for videos from YouTube/Google); like any image request on the internet, it sees your IP address and device type, but not who you are. If you tap an article or a podcast episode, it opens in a Safari window inside the app on the provider’s website; a video opens in the YouTube app (if installed) or in the browser. The provider’s own privacy policy applies in each case.

4. Notifications

Alerts for your favourites are part of Toura Pro (see section 5). You can turn them off at any time in the app (About the app → Alerts) or in the iPhone settings; in the app you also choose which kinds of alerts you want.

Alerts for your favourites (via our server)

If you have Toura Pro, turn on notifications and have marked favourites, the app registers you with our server. Depending on your choice you then receive a message when the next match of one of your favourites is set (opponent and time), when it starts, they win a set, or the match ends (with the result) – even when the app is closed. Tapping the message opens the match in the app. For this, our server (Cloudflare, see section 3) stores:

Your name, email address and location are not stored. The server continuously checks the schedules and live results and sends the message through the push service of Expo (650 Industries, Inc., USA) to Apple, which deliver it to your iPhone. For this, Expo and Apple receive the push token and the text of the message (players, time, score or result). The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you give by turning on notifications and granting the iPhone permission, and which you can withdraw at any time.

We delete your registration when you turn notifications off, remove all favourites or your subscription ends (as soon as the app can tell the server), when Apple reports the device as no longer valid (e.g. after the app is deleted) and at the latest when the app has not been opened for 90 days. If you delete the app without turning notifications off first, your registration is therefore deleted after 90 days at the latest.

5. App Store and Apple

Downloads and updates are handled by Apple, which is responsible for them under Apple’s privacy policy. If you have enabled “Share With App Developers” in the iPhone settings under “Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements”, Apple gives us anonymous crash reports and usage figures. We cannot tell who you are from them.

Subscription (Toura Pro)

Toura Pro is a subscription you take out with Apple (monthly or yearly, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers). Payment and management are handled entirely by Apple. We receive neither your name, nor your email address, nor payment details, and no information about your subscription from Apple. The app asks Apple on your device whether a valid subscription exists and remembers on the device how long it is valid; that alerts are only available with Toura Pro is checked by the app on your device. You can cancel in the iPhone settings → your name → Subscriptions.

6. This website

This website is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). When you visit it, the host briefly stores technical data (IP address, time, page visited, browser) to deliver the page and protect it against abuse (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising services. If you choose light or dark mode at the top, only your browser remembers this choice (in local storage, “localStorage”); it is not sent to us.

If you open the website, the imprint or this privacy policy from within the app, they appear in a Safari window inside the app; what is described in this section applies.

Support via Ko-fi

The “Buy me a coffee” button leads to our page on Ko-fi (Ko-fi Labs Limited, United Kingdom). You only leave this website when you tap it. Payment is handled by Ko-fi and the payment service Stripe; their privacy policies apply. Ko-fi passes on to us the amount, the name you enter there and, if applicable, your message and email address. We use this only to process your support, to thank you and for our accounting (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)). We never see payment details such as your card number.

7. Contact by email

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply. We delete them once the request is settled, at the latest after 12 months, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention. The “Email support” entry in the app only opens your mail app; we receive nothing until you send the email.

8. No other recipients

We do not sell data and do not pass any on to third parties, except to the providers named above to the extent described. The app contains no advertising, no analytics tools and no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

9. Your rights

You can ask whether and which data we process about you, and request its correction, deletion or a copy, or object to processing. As we store no data about you on our own systems apart from emails, the short-lived technical logs (section 3) and the push registration (section 4, without names or contact details), such requests usually concern only your emails to us. You delete your push registration yourself by turning notifications off. Write to support@toura.dev.

You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority of your country of residence.

10. Changes

If the app changes so that other data is processed (e.g. a subscription), we will update this policy beforehand. The version published here applies.
